The Dangers of Predictive Policing: Why AI Cannot Fix Crime
History has shown that surveillance and predictive policing frequently oppress rather than protect those being monitored.
The idea of predicting human behavior, and even crimes, before they happen has long seemed like science fiction. However, the arrival of an AI named Dejaview, which claims to predict crimes with an accuracy of 82.8%, has made this a reality.
Based on the developed Dejaview technology, the researchers of ETRI will work with local governments and agencies to provide crime signal detection and prediction services specific to various security sites and purposes. https://techxplore.com/news
Is this technology a sign of hope for safer communities, or are we heading down a dangerous path?
The truth is that predicting crime accurately is a difficult task. Human actions are influenced by a slew of unpredictable social, emotional, and environmental factors, which no AI can fully comprehend or anticipate.
The notion that AI can make accurate predictions is not only irrational, but also dangerous.
Today's AI is also riddled with errors and biases, so relying on such flawed technology can exacerbate rather than resolve social injustices. History has shown that surveillance and predictive policing frequently oppress rather than protect those being monitored.
Instead of concentrating on AI-driven predictive policing, which could be a tool of a dystopian tyranny that prioritizes cold calculations over humanity, we should address the underlying causes of crime.
Now, think about what actually lowers crime: strong, loving family ties and more severe penalties for crimes, not fear-mongering surveillance.
AI can undoubtedly boost output and simplify routine tasks, but it is not suitable for delicate tasks like behavior prediction.
We should prioritize morality and fairness over questionable technological solutions, and government initiatives. Embracing this responsibility will eventually result in a safer and more just society.

I would appreciate it if you would stay for a moment and read my message. 🙏
What you see in this substack represents countless hours of dedication. While I could easily limit my content only to paid subscribers, I firmly believe that sharing my knowledge freely is the right thing to do because it’s about making a positive impact and helping others.
However, despite my commitment, the support I receive from my readers falls short. This lack of support often leaves me feeling unappreciated and demoralized. My passion for this work should allow me to cover my basic expenses, but the reality has been quite different. Take, for example, my articles addressing fixing COVID vaccine damage or the articles about blood supply contamination. 👇
Hundreds of people benefited from that information, but only a few donated to the work for which I could charge a high fee.
I understand that life is tough for everyone right now, but I truly believe that if each of you could contribute just the price of one coffee a month, it would make a significant difference. Even accounting for transfer fees and taxes, this small gesture would help sustain my efforts here and support my genuine science blog.
Let’s create a community of support and ensure that valuable information remains accessible to all. Thank you for considering this! Every contribution counts!❤
How could you support my work?
You can do it by paypal or by direct transfer on my website (I do not sell or collect your information).
Another way to help me keep going is to become a paid subscriber or founding member.
