The main story this week was the terrible earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Disasters like this should demonstrate the best of humanity, but in this case, they demonstrated how divided and inhuman we have become. While initially primarily from Bulgaria, Turkey received immediate help. Western countries sent aid despite their reservations. Syria was initially only helped by the Russians. People from all over the world who wanted to send money discovered that they couldn't because of the sanctions imposed on Syria. Nobody remembers what sanctions are about but these sanctions stop the saving of innocent lives.
