Natural ways men can keep themselves healthy
Current lifestyle and dietary recommendations are causing impotence, decreased testosterone levels, male infertility, male cancers and accelerated aging. Nature can help minimise damage.
Last week, I discussed the best herbal remedy for perimenopausal symptoms. While men do not experience the same sharp transition to old age as women, their reproductive system ages, which has an impact on their general well-being. Healthy testosterone levels are beneficial to their overall health, but decline with age as male fertility. Unfortunately, the risk of developing prostate cancer rises with age.
Nature, of course, has provided ways to improve the quality of life of ageing men. Here are some herbs and foods that are beneficial to them.
Puncture vine (Tribulus terrestris), also known as goat's heads, is one of the most well-known herbs for men. It has long been used to improve male reproductive health and libido. Some research suggests that it may help boost testosterone levels.
Ginseng (Panax ginseng) is another well-known male herb with numerous benefits. It boosts male libido and testosterone levels.
Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens) is also excellent herb for men. It promotes prostate health and alleviates the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH).
Walnuts, which I have already mentioned, are also beneficial to men since boost male fertility.
This may surprise you, but garlic is also good food for men. Garlic stimulates sperm production and increases testosterone levels.
Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts contain anti-prostate cancer compounds known as glucosinolates.
Lycopene, which increases male fertility and has anti-prostate cancer properties, is abundant in tomatoes.
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a well-known spice that promotes prostate health, lowers the risk of prostate cancer, and helps men suffering from erectile dysfunction. It is an essential spice/herb for ageing men. Keep in mind that curcumin, the component responsible for turmeric's benefits, has a low bioavailability. It means that it cannot be easily absorbed and used by the body. Consuming it with black pepper increases it. Make a cup of turmeric tea with a teaspoon of black pepper to take advantage of all of its perks.
Vitamin D, which is easily obtained from nature (if you do not live in Northern Europe), is essential for the proper functioning of the male reproductive system, and men should ensure that they get enough of it. While supplements are inexpensive and easy to find, the best way for getting Vitamin D, if sunlight is insufficient or you do not spend much time outside is by consuming foods such as eggs, red meat, liver, and fish.
💡
Take real herbs and foods rather than supplements, which often contain fillers and are processed.
Consume the herbs as a tea extract. Normally, the recommended amount can be found on the box. If you decide to harvest some herbs, make sure you know exactly what you're doing and never take anything that grows near a road or a factory.
🔴 If you've never tried the herbs before, make the first cup during the day when you're not alone so you can notice any allergic reactions and receive help.
🔴If you take any medicines check for drug interactions.
I do not sell any of the products mentioned here, and my main sources of income are my blog and my substack. Unfortunately, I have recently been unable to sustain even the things I require to work 😢.
