Hemp: Rediscovering Nature’s Versatile Gift - Part I - Medical Properties
Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant which has been grown for thousands of years due to its versatility. Unlike marijuana, hemp contains just trace amounts of the psychoactive chemical THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, making it a legal crop grown around the world.
Its applications are as broad as they are spectacular and include medicine, clothing, and construction.
In a series of articles, I’ll explore hemp’s remarkable benefits and versatile uses, examine the optimal conditions for its cultivation, and reveal why this plant's enormous potential remains virtually unexplored.
Finally, I hope that my pieces will result in a renewed understanding of this incredible natural gift, reintroducing its numerous benefits into everyday life.
Which active ingredients in hemp have therapeutic applications?
Hemp has long been praised for its medicinal properties, due to the abundance of cannabidiol (CBD), omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamin E and other antiphidants (polyphenols, carotenoids and phytosterols).
CBD belongs to the terpenophenolic chemical class, which includes both terpene-like (aromatic) and phenolic (hydroxy group) structures. CBD, unlike THC, is not psychoactive.
Hemp as medicine is typically used in three forms: hemp seed oil, CBD hemp oil, and hemp tea.
✨ Hemp Seed Oil is the most common form, extracted by cold-pressing hemp seeds. It’s a rich source of essential fatty acids (like omega-3 and omega-6), vitamins, and antioxidants. It doesn't contain significant amounts of cannabinoids like CBD or THC.
✨ CBD Hemp oil is made by extracting cannabidiol from the flowers, leaves, and stalks of the hemp plant.
✨ Hemp tea contains hemp flowers, leaves, and sometimes stems, and can be prepared as an infusion or extract. It has low THC content and can be a source of CBD.
What are the health benefits of hemp?
➡️ Pain Relief
CBD extracted from hemp has been found to help treat chronic pain by interacting with the body's endocannabinoid system, which regulates pain, mood, and inflammation. Only CBD oil or hemp tea could be helpful in this case.
➡️ Anti-Anxiety and Stress Relief
CBD may help with anxiety, stress and sleep disorders, offering a natural alternative to prescribed medications. Only CBD oil or hemp tea could be helpful in this case.
➡️ Anti-Inflammatory Effect
CBD, omega fatty acids, and antioxidants found in hemp could help people with inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid Arthritis and multiple Sclerosis. All three forms could be beneficial.
➡️ Heart Health Support
Hemp seed oil is rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid that has been shown to support cardiovascular health. GLA helps regulate inflammation and maintain healthy blood vessels, which can contribute to a lower risk of heart disease and improved overall heart function. CBD may improve heart health by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels. All three forms could be beneficial.
➡️ Epilepsy Treatment
Some studies have found that CBD can help lessen the frequency and severity of seizures in people with epilepsy, particularly those who do not respond to traditional treatments. Only CBD oil or hemp tea could be helpful in this case.
➡️ Digestive Health Support
Hemp tea might also help with digestion. According to some reports, consuming hemp tea can help calm the stomach and lessen moderate nausea or heartburn symptoms. Furthermore, hemp's fiber and essential fatty acid content may support gut health and a healthy digestive system. Due to its high omega fatty acid content, hemp seed oil can also help maintain gut wellness.
➡️ Anti-Cancer Properties
CBD may help fight cancer by inhibiting cancer cell development. CBD also stimulates apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells, which may limit their uncontrolled growth. It may also help to limit metastasis, or the spread of cancer cells to other parts of the body. Finally, CBD's anti-inflammatory qualities may lower inflammation, which is linked to cancer formation and progression. CBD has excellent potential as a treatment for glioma, breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, leukemia and lymphoma, and prostate cancer. It may even be possible to benefit those who have pancreatic, cervical, and stomach cancers, as well as melanoma. Please keep in mind that ingesting CBD hemp oil or drinking hemp tea cannot cure cancer. My goal is to raise awareness and encourage further investigation into the subject.
However, hemp undoubtedly has the potential to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.
➡️ COVID Vaccines Damage Treatment
The active ingredients in all tree forms of hemp may be beneficial to those who have been injured by COVID vaccines and should be included in their treatment plan.
➡️ Skin and Hair Health Booster
Hemp seed oil is a popular skincare component due to its high fatty acid content. It supports the skin's natural barrier, giving hydration without blocking pores. Essential fatty acids help relieve dryness, soothe sensitive skin, and may even help manage problems like eczema or acne. Its hydrating characteristics make it an excellent choice for nourishing hair, increasing shine, and avoiding scalp dryness. Hemp tea's anti-inflammatory effects may aid with skin disorders such as acne or eczema if consumed on a regular basis.
🔔 Hemp tea is an easy way for enhancing your health even if you are healthy. To prepare hemp tea or extract, the CBD and other medicinal components found in hemp plants must be extracted appropriately. You can buy pre-made hemp tea bags or make your own from loose-leaf hemp blossoms. Infusing hemp flowers in hot water is the simplest way, however for greater absorption of cannabinoids like CBD, it is often recommended to add a little amount of fat (such as coconut oil or milk) to the tea, as cannabinoids are fat-soluble.
As you can see from the above, hemp is another natural pharmacy. 📢 Please ensure that you pick the right kind of hemp and that it does not interfere with any medications you are currently taking.
📢 While allergic responses to hemp tea, CBD oil, and hemp seed oil are uncommon, they are conceivable, particularly for people who are sensitive to cannabis plants or specific oils and seeds. As with any new product, particularly one containing plant extracts or oils, it is advised to begin with a little dose and monitor any potential reactions.
