The Transformative Power of Intermittent Fasting: My Journey and Insights
In our constant search for wellness, we often overlook the most powerful, reliable, and completely free tool we all possess: the ability to simply pause our eating.
Intermittent fasting is a time-honored practice that allows our bodies to rest, repair, and rebalance.
In a previous article, I delved into the science-backed benefits of this practice.

Intermittent Fasting: The Cheapest Way to Achieve Better Health
Recently, a compelling YouTube video that visually illustrates the incredible things that happen in our bodies during a fast inspired me to revisit this topic and share a more personal story.
A Personal Test and an Unexpected Result
While I’ve never feared menopause and have successfully managed its early symptoms with herbs, my body recently sent a clearer signal that a shift was happening. This change prompted me to try something I had been curious about for a while: a three-day fast. My goal was simple: I just wanted to see if I could do it and observe how my body would respond.
The experience was much easier than I had imagined. For three days, I consumed only water and black coffee. I chose a quiet weekend, from Friday to Monday, when I had no demanding commitments. I didn't work out or engage in any intense physical activity, and I would advise against driving if you attempt a longer fast. The idea is to take it easy so your body can dedicate its energy to its "natural waste removal" and repair processes.
The results were nothing short of astonishing. My menopause symptoms, which had been creeping in, simply vanished. My menstrual cycle returned, and I was filled with a newfound sense of energy and happiness. It’s no wonder people don’t believe me when I say I’m 50 years old!
But this is not all. I feel like my brain operates better afterward, which is not surprising given that detox benefits the brain and other organs. Fasting protects against neurological disorders and enhances brain function.
My Approach and What I Learned
It's important to note that this wasn't about deprivation; it was about restoration. Since that initial three-day experience, I haven't repeated such a long fast. Instead, I incorporate shorter fasts often for one or two days into my routine whenever I feel my body needs a reset.
Fasting isn't a cure for all diseases, but it is an incredibly effective way to support your body's innate healing capabilities. Doing it even from time to time can make a significant difference. Of course, it’s just one piece of the puzzle. The lasting benefits come when fasting is paired with a healthy diet and conscious lifestyle choices.
If you’re curious, consider starting small. Listen to your body, choose a time when you can relax, and allow yourself the space to experience this simple, yet profound, act of self-care. It’s a powerful reminder that sometimes, the best way to support our health is to step back and let our bodies do what they do best: heal.
