The importance of self-care and spending time in nature
“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” ~ Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden
Today, I woke up with a headache. I am at an age when headaches are common, so the feeling was more like "Where have you been?!" than "Ah, Not again!". I am so used to being in pain. I wanted to finish my articles about the Tucker Carlson-Putin interview and the Sunday Weekly Review, but staring at the screen was unbearable. I just couldn't focus. Housework, drinking my herbal tea and walking to the garden center did not help as usual. I'm not taking medications because make me feel worse.
My garden caught my attention. It is small, and in this wet, cold climate, not many plants grow.
Is there anything I can do? I had nothing to plant because I couldn't afford to buy anything at the garden center.
I decided to still go outside, looked around, and realized that I could actually do a lot.
I took my old planters, aerated the soil, looked for seeds (birds and squirrels bring some), and planted what I found. I arranged it nicely. Spring is on its way, since sundrops, crocuses, tulips, and daffodils are starting to peak. I cleaned the space around them. The first blossoms are going to appear soon. My garden looked much nicer, and the best part was that my nasty headache had gone away. My husband came to remind me that it is chilly and that I may catch a cold, so I should come inside. I did not feel the cold at all. I felt refreshed and full of Mother Earth's energy. We, humans, are Earth's creatures, and when we care for nature, nature returns the favor. Moving around, smelling the soil and plants, and hearing the wind and animals helped relieve my headache.
🍀 I have written a series of articles about how Mother Nature can help us. It's called the Natural Remedy Series.👇
