Healthy Lifestyle Is Just Another Snake Oil Business
Do you need any specific products to stay healthy? What is healthy lifestyle?
How to live a healthy lifestyle is all over media. I got it advertised even here. The article was written by a person who doesn’t have any expertise in health or nutrition or anything else in the area but advertises multiple expensive products. People are constantly making to believe that being healthy is possible only by buying things. It is part of the overconsuming culture of having things which aren’t in fact needed. It is well planned. Most of the time these articles appear after Christmas and New Year, when people eat a lot, and just before the summer when people dress up less or go to the beach.
While appearing different the advice is the same every time: move more, eat veggies and protein, cut the sugar but every year there is a new miracle product that will help achieve it faster or better. Recently these are health-tracking watches and apps which do nothing than selling your health data to anyone who pays. Data mining is the new gold mining.
Despite the increase of apps, gadgets, and etc products (or advertised as such) obesity is still a major problem. It shows that that new products can’t help you have a healthy lifestyle. Chaining the parts which harm your health does. Also it doesn’t need to cost an arm and leg.
Walking or running is free. Do it as often you can. Better in a park of course because breathing the polluted city air isn’t healthy. Instead buying, another expensive workout station which will take a whole room (and you may not even use it) get cheap barbells and resistance bands set. Look for exercise ideas online.
Walk to the nearest local produce market and stock up with meat, veggies, and fruits. You support your local community that way.
Move to the suburbs and grow at least part of your food. Why not making co-operative with neighbors? They give you eggs, you lettuce. No money which feed the fat cats in banks needed.
A healthy lifestyle is just normal way of living and you don't need any particular products to achieve it.
What often health gurus dismiss is the mental health. Physical activities are proven to improve it but in the current situation isn’t enough. One of the easiest ways to help yourself is to not follow the news and to not use the internet. A day without it will make miracles for your brain.
We are also part of nature.
Spend more time in wild and never overdo anything.
Keeping the balance is the most important thing. If you feel lazy and wanting to eat crappy food. Do it but occasionally.
Healthy lifestyle achieved by expensive products is just another myth to keep up overconsumption and make the people who promote it rich. You can be healthy and happy by following common sense (moving and eating good food) and taking care of your mental health.
